Why do I need to show my I.D. even though everyone knows I’m over 21 years of age?

Although none of our fabulous looking patrons look a day over 21, it is our non-negotiable policy to require all persons entering our premises to possess a valid, government issued identification card. It is essential for us to know who you are in case of an emergency or, should the proper legal authorities request to see your identification during one of their unannounced alcohol-compliancy checks. We ask that you carry your I.D each and every time you visit O’Neill’s Brass Rail to avoid putting yourself, or us, at risk. Remember, no     I.D., no entry.

How can I get access to the outdoor deck during SailFEST to watch the Fireworks?

Every year, O’Neill’s Brass Rail issues, in advance, 100 wristbands for this event to patrons who regularly visit our establishment and become well-known to our hospitable staff. Should you wish access to our “Invitation Only Fireworks Extravaganza Party,” simply become a frequent visitor to our club.  Your appreciation of us goes a long way!  Please note that wristbands can not be purchased on the night of the event. They are given to our special customers well in advance of the SailFEST Celebration.

If I get to O’Neill’s early on the night of the Fireworks, can I stay?

Understand that at precisely 8 p.m on the night of the Fireworks, our outdoor, riverfront deck is closed to the public.  All visitors are politely asked to vacate the deck so that our previously invited guests may view the Fireworks show at one of New London’s premier viewing  areas.  Patrons who have chosen O’Neill’s Brass Rail throughout the day are asked to view from inside the club, or in the area adjacent (below) the deck.  Once the show is over, all guests are invited back to experience our outdoor dance party and drag show.

Don, who is that old lady that works for you on Sunday nights?

After 40 plus years of serving New London’s best customers, Sunday nights at O’Neill’s would NOT be the same without my mom, Josie! If you’ve ever experienced the sharp-tongue of New London’s oldest and one of NL’s most well-known bartenders, you’ve witnessed something rare, indeed.  Josie celebrated her 73rd birthday on May 4th; and she has no plans on retiring soon! If you really want to see her in action, throw some money in the jukebox and play “Chiquitita” by ABBA. Sit back, enjoy the show, and please don’t be in a hurry.  She’ll get to you eventually.

How can I become a bartender at O’Neill’s?

O’Neill’s requires that all applicants be certified in alcohol awareness and responsibility  through the T.I.P.S. training program. In addition, please note that O’Neill’s does not hire “bartenders” per se. We hire street-savy staff that are capable, eager, and excited about working in a small, full-service bar/restaurant. Responsibilities may also include a host of other things such as door-security, fast-food preparation, serving, cleaning, decorating, sweeping, trash detail, etc.

You serve food?

We sure do!  We have a full service kitchen that serves up burgers, fries, onion rings, sandwiches, clam fritters, seafood salad, and many other things. Check us out!
